ie: meaning you left your spouse and ended up happily married to that "other" person

Not me, but one of my ex boyfriends father did that. He had been having an affair with a coworker, and wound up divorcing his wife (my ex's mother) and marrying the coworker. They'd been married about 8 years when I met them and were really nice people, very right for each other. My ex's mother, on the other hand, was no treat to be around, so I can see why he left her. Very self destructive and blamed all her problems on everyone but herself (mostly her ex who always paid child support and put the kids through college) Even the three kids seemed to like their step mom better than their own.

I did it 26 years ago. So yeah, I was a "cheater" I was young and very unhappy with the choice I had made. Enter - tall dark and gorgeous. I left my husband and became his bride. We were married for 24 years and I never cheated (nor did he) again.

My little story is unusual, however, and I wouldn't think for a moment that it might apply to you. Plus, I did have to live with a ton of guilt for what I did to the first guy, his family and our friends. I hurt a lot of people in my nasty little search to be "happy". I know now that I should have given him his dignity and left him before I turned to another man.

I can't go back and fix what I've done and I think of it sometimes. But if you are thinking it will all work out in the end, just know that it rarely does. I'm an exception and the only people it worked out for were me and my lover.

I left my husband of 16 years....married the man and now I'm miserable. I'm leaving the "new" husband. My-ex-husband just got engaged and my heart hurts. Karma is a *****.
