I don't get it. Arabs ARE semites by origin, just like jews and other semites, so we naturally can not be called anti semitic. Anyone plz, a logical explanation?

well, everybody agree that arabs are semites by origin, and i think that is historically proved for anybody who denies that. just know that i (arab) really really hate israelis and zionists but have no problems with jews themselves for being jews and so should all muslims, and if anyone answers saying arabs hate jews i say jews also hate arabs. also there are alot of arab christians for everyone to know, so its not just a religion thing. ''Some mentally ill people hate what they are. So anything is possible'', that is meaningless. if an arab hate his identity he most probably be a fan of israel right?. this claim of people hating whom they are is just like the ''self hating jew'' thing, its meaningless.

so very accurate, there not anti semites at all, they are very anti zionist though, extremely. there are jews that lives all over the middle east and they look, talk, and act just like muslims. the media just likes to paint arabs as inhuman monsters, when in reality they are just really poor. most care more about eating enbough food that day then what america or the jews are up too.

Arabs are semitic just like the Jews. They come from the same father Abraham. What they are is anti Israel meaning they do not want the Jews to have there own homeland. They want to have Israel as their own and call it Palestine.

Anti-semitic is a word coined by early eugenics authors in Germany. In the late 19th century, it gained a meaning basically synonymous with anti-jewish.
There is no such thing as "semitic people", but rather a family of languages called "semitic". Just as people who speak English, German, or Dutch are not necessarily related, though these are all germanic languages, so semitic-speakers are not related genetically, either.
In fact, the term used for "anti-jewish" is also incorrect, since there is, again, no such thing as "semitic" people. Also, hate groups have generally not spent as much effort trying to denigrate and vilify Arabs (at least not via conspiracy theories) so the application is also different.

whatever their origin, the widely accepted use of the words "anti-semitic" means against Jews. that's just how it is.
a whole lot of Arabs ARE against Jews, and will freely admit this if you listen long enough.

Well, the term anti-semitic has come to mean hate towards Jews, so it is easy to see how the mistake could be made.

Because whether or not you agree with it, the term "anti-Semitism" is defined as anti-Jewish.
I do feel your pain, however. I've been doing battle against the word "homophobia" for years. Nobody exhibits an irrational fear of himself, which is what a homophobe would do. Doesn't it grind you when somebody concocts a half-baked "word"?

But that doesn't alter the fact that many Arabs hate Jews and would like to see their destruction. I just call them Jew haters.

It's a definite misnomer. Arabs are the descendants of Ishmael, son of Abraham through Hagar, his concubine.
I just wish there weren't so many Arabs and others calling for Israel's destruction.
