My BIOL teacher posed this question awhile back and the responses were pretty interesting. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

We were also asked, "Can science prove that something is NOT there?"

Beauty is a subjective judgement, informed by your experiences, your culture, and your ability to perceive the world.

Science cannot tell us what is beautiful, but cultural anthropology - if you consider that a science - can tell us what people find beautiful and can help us to understand why this is.

There is a kind of philosophy - aesthetics - that is dedicated to determining what is beautiful.

As they say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Science can never truly prove anything.
When it comes to pretty or beautiful, no, its a deeper personal judgement.
