Actually 401k's help everyone because pretty much EVERY single job of merit in this country offers one, and no I don't have one because I'm self employed, so I have something else.

Oh right, by "the common man is struggling" you must mean " have record high levels of minority home ownership"--knucklehead.

There's a great sound bite that's making the rounds of Democratic talking heads lately, most recently in Webb's rebuttal to the SOTU speech last night. It goes like this:

"Real wages today are at their lowest point in history, as a percentage of our nation's wealth."

Sounds pretty horrible, right?

Well consider this. MY OWN real wages today are the lowest they've ever been compared to my net worth as well. Yours should be too!

When you were making $2.50 / hr. or $5,000 per year and had a net worth of $1,000 (if you were lucky), your wages were 5 TIMES your net worth. If today you make $50,000 per year and have a net worth of $100,000, your wages have "declined" as a % of your wealth, dramatically.

But you're a whole lot better off (just like America!).

This is a classic example of pandering to the victim mindset with confusing phraseology hammered out in the sound-bite grist mills of Washington's Democratic think tanks.

Shameless class warfare hate mongerers! Steel yourself...they'll be beating this drum for the next two years.

In reality the liberals of today are Stalinists and Marxists. Their belief that government is the solution to all problems and no wealth should be privately owned is what drives todays liberals.

They are also anti-American. They believe America is the worlds problem and the world would be better off without America in it.

Liberals are all for forsaking the poor weak and downtrodden if America's military is involved in keeping them alive, but insist on keeping America's poor weak and downtrodden in their miserable existance because of 'political correctness', (New Orleans and any urban city).

And when the economy tanks into a deep recession because of the rising deficit and national debt into the trillions, a decline of the GDP, rising oil prices, rising inflation, the cost of this war, and the rising health care costs that no one can afford, will you finally admit this president really sucks and sucks bad? That's just one part of it. That's not the entire economy. We are one point away from a recession. That's when the facial year closed in September of 06. When we hit that one point and we will, your going to see those 401 k's take a nose dive. So get out now while it's high. Put it in a low risk stock.

Bernake said a couple of days ago, that if the US doesn't take care of it's huge deficits and debt that it is going to be very tough in the next couple of years. Do you really think that reflects a sound economy?

In certain areas of country (east and west coast) and certain segments of the economy (construction and real estate for example) are doing well. Many states and many other industries are not faring as well.

Thats a little one sided considering it was clinton and greenspan that cleared the national debt in the first place. DEMO... you know where I'm going with this!
