Yes - and you'd major in Early Childhood Education. Although teaching pre schoolers is simple, it's still required that you know psychology and other classes very well in order to handle them. You'd even have to receive at least a certification (any perhaps even more) to have a license to open a daycare. That way parents would know that their children are in safe hands and learning valuable information to aid in their development. Good Luck and remember that 2-4 yrs of college will go by very, very quickly!!!

It depends upon what role you want to take and where you want to work. Highly accredited daycares do require people with some sort of child development degrees (there are 2 and 4 year degrees available). If you want to run a daycare, then you should most definitely go to college for Child Development. If you simply want to work in a daycare or preschool as an assistant teacher you can probably do so without any college.

I am a preschool teacher at a day care. In order to be a lead teacher, you have to have a degree in early childhood education or child development. There are day cares that will hire you if you have an associate's degree, but those are generally lower star day cares. (Day cares are rated on a 5 star system). Those centers generally run on state ratio. That means that you will have the minimum number of teachers per child required by the law. I teach 2 year old, and I have 2 aides at all times for 12 children (4:1). State ratio is 1:7. A 4:1 ratio is great, but if you want to teach at a place like that, you do need to go to college. My aides didn't go to college, but they get paid 8.00/ hour.

To teach preschool, you need at least an Associates in education and early childhood development. You probably will only be able to be a teacher's aide without a degree. PS, preschool teachers make less than $25K annually.

yes I think you need to get your teacher degree or certificate. But if you don't want to go to college, you can work at a daycare.
