The slumber party is always a good one. Makeup, nails, karaoke, boy talk. If you want to take it outside the house -- maybe a local pizzeria (not a chuck e cheese). Friends could mingle, hopefully the place would have music or maybe they would even let you bring karaoke. If you plan your party during the less busy hours, a pizza place might work with you on what they'll allow. A neighborhood treasure hunt is always fun but requires good weather and quite a bit of planning. Have a happy birthday and a great time!

Here's an idea. Have a mini-mardi gras celebration. You can rent out a hall or do it in your backyard or any big open space in your house. At the door, hand out mardi gras masks, and beads. Have loud music, and a buffet table (and a gift table) filled with foods you love. Also try to include New Orleans-style food. Have little competitions (i.e dancing competitions) for the BIG beads. They are the best beads, and you can find them at a party store for about 10 for $2. The more Big beads you have, the better your goodie bag, which by the way you will give out at the door. Also, get a prize for the person with the most amount of beads. The goodie bag should have masks, candy, more beads and whatever you want to throw in there. Make the room colorful with colors like orange, purple, yellow, green, and red. Also, hang up your Christmas tree lights around your house and dim down the lights.
This celebration is inexpensive. You can find everything at your neighborhood party store.

I think that you and your closest friends can go to a nice indoor spa. You can have a beauty consultant host your party. It would be that expensive and I think it will be lots of fun. I might do the same thing for my 13th birthday cause i'm going through the same dilemma.

For my daughter's 12th birthday she chose 3 of her best friends, I took them to a local beauty college and they had make up done and their hair curled (it's CHEAP) and then we went to high tea. The whole day cost me less than $50 and my daughter (who is now 21) says it was on of the best days she ever had.
