You should never be ashamed about anything. If you ever do anything wrong, just work on making it right, and forget about shame. Everyone makes mistakes. The only shameful mistakes are the ones people evade and the ones that could easily be avoided.
You should also be proud that you aren't stupid enough to have bought a house at the age of 20. People that age need to travel and discover the world, before they will know their place in it. Buying a house implies you already decided your place is right there and nowhere else.

Huh?
Back in the day (80's) I was pretty proud of myself that I bought my first house at 24. Home ownership is a great thing, but don't get down on yourself for not owning.
I will say that the sooner you get into owning real estate, the better. If you're not sure about having a yard, or don't mind the apartment life, buy a condo or townhouse. Something that realizes equity appreciation, that's the real goal.
Also remember that home ownership requires a commitment to yourself, your asset (house, yard, etc) and your neighborhood. If you're not prepared to keep your yard and house up for the sake of the investment and the neighborhood, go out in the middle of nowhere and dig a cave.

No you should not be ashamed because some people are older than you and have not bought a house yet you should save your money and get a house that you really want other than a house that you can afford just to get a house.

my parents didnt buy a house until they were like 40 years old! i know that seems like a really old age but now they're both about 50 and bought and built an amazing house with so many upgrades that they say is the last one they want to live in! i think they gained so much experience renting and building relationships and leasing (maybe for too long ;)) and i really believe that if you leave a house better than when you moved in and take care of whats given to you and i guarantee you'll keep getting better things. really, when the time comes, you'll be glad you waited!

Of course not!!! A lot of 20 year olds still live in their parent's houses! Why would you be ashamed for not buying a house?

Nope. I know of lots of people who are in their 40's and 50's who have yet to buy a house.
Besides, most people in their early 20's are either in school, or just starting out with their job/career, and don't have the means, money, or knowledge to purchase a home.

Yes, you slacker. You should be horribly ashamed of yourself. And I'm guessing you're not married either. Pffft, and no kids I bet. Whoa, you've got some catch up work to do for sure. No seriously, you are way too young to be considering a house. Didn't you just move out of your mom's?

You are still young and have plenty of time to buy a house. No, you should not be ashamed, because you have nothing to be ashamed about.
