how can i do this w/o having to have a T-post

You still need a ladder. Screw on the inside of opening a long narrow peace of wood. Use glue to support the sheetrock. Hold in place . Electric drill in as meny long screws as possible. Cover with plaster.

Cut the old piece out. Screw the new piece in.bed tape.let dry and then skim with an 8.If needed follow by a 10 and 12.

call afriend or rent a sheetrock jack from your local rental agency

If it is a 4x8 or a 4x12.......sheet you better have some help. You need a 3rd man (T-Post) even with one helper.
