I found an old letter detailing a trip made to the U.S. in 1886. I've looked everywhere I can think of to find this location. I was hoping someone could tell me how to go about getting this information. The boy left his hometown of Strba in Czechoslovakia (unless the name of the town was incorrectly written in the letter) in 1886 to come to the U.S. Of course since then Europe has gone thru many changes. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

I found a city in Slovakia called Tatranska Strba. It is located in the northern part of eastern Slovakia, in the foothills of the high Tantra mountain, a big tourist area.

You may have had trouble finding a reference to it today as in 1993 after the fall of communism, Czechoslovakia divided into 2 countries: Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Sounds like an interesting search! Good luck to you!

Looks like it is in the Carpathians.
