I am 38 weeks pregnant and I have been reading up on some ways to induce labor. I read that sex is supposed to help induce labor. Ok, not to get too personal, but did that work for anyone? How long after your session did you go in to labor? I'm just looking for some opinions and experiances. At this point in my pregnancy sex is the last thing I am thinking of, but if it works, I'll try it. LOL. Only honest answers please, no pervs!! Thanks!

yes; so can breast pumps... and you are far enough along to use those as well; i think it's 3 times a day 45 minutes each but i would definatley use a hospital grade one. (u can rent them) and walking helps bring labor on as well. and i know of several of my female friends that went into labor right after they had sex.

It worked for me. We did it in the seated position. And within an hour I was having contractions. I went from a 1 to a 4 1/2 over night and had my baby the next day. Less than 24 hours later. Hubby was glad too because then he got some before the baby and waiting wasn't so bad. I WILL be doing it again to try to start labor. Good luck

Well they say that semen helps thin out the cervix. My husband and i had sex regularly right up until the night before i went into labor, i dont really know if it had an effect but i have heard that if you can actually reach climax it may bring on uterine contractions.
Also the day before i went into labor i got a pedicure and in my massage therapy classes we learned that there are 3 pressure points in the ankles that reflexologists believe can bring on labor, i didnt really think much of it but i did go into labor within 24 hours. Maybe see if a foot and ankle rub will help.

Everyone is so different. I've been told by friends that it is not necessarily sex that induces the labor, but orgasms. I don't know how true this is, but it sounds logical. As you're having one, your muscles start to contract and then can turn into bigger more real contractions and travel to the uterus. Not to sound sick or like a perv, but you can achieve an orgasm without your partner and if you're really anxious to have this baby, you can try this over and over and over. It may tire you out, but it won't hurt the baby and you don't have to stress over getting in the right positions with your belly in the way! We tried everything, in the end, she decided when it was time to come. Best of Luck! I remember those last few weeks, not fun. But, he/she will be here before you know it and you'll forget all about this time (not really, but it will be worth it :)

I am 38 weeks and I have sex every other day... and I certainly hasn't put me in labor yet {I think because my body is too used to my husband semen}. But if you haven't had sex in a long time, try it, semen containts hormon that cause contractions and help cervix to soften, but you would have to do it couple time in row. There is just a little bit of that hormon, so you need to repeat to get more of it inside.

I tried sex, castor oil, running up and down stairs, jumping on a trampoline and I went off roading with my older brother. In the end I was induced with both kids. I don't think anything works. Good luck though!

I have heard it does..actually it is the semen- (they use an injection to induce it) and it has the same type of reactions. I dont think it is "sex" but the semen that is what induces. Goodluck. but you want fast labor- laugh. I mean crack up laughing- get a bunch of girls together, walk the mall and laugh, and within 15 hours, you'll have that baby! Goodluck!

I know that it can definately help but something that works better especially if you are not feeling so sexy now a days is rubbing your ankles. There is a spot on your ankle around where your bone is that triggers labor. Have your hubby or boyfriend rub them all over. Also spicy food.

Sex did not induce me, but scrubbing the floor broke my mom's water and driving over railroad tracks worked for my sister. I was sitting on the floor clipping magazines. A very strong orgasm might work!

Nope. And believe me, we gave it an honest effort!! I had to be induced with both my boys and both pregnancies went 6 days overdue.
