its more cynical. you can dream and hope, and have faith and determination in those wishes- but reality always wins.

Well, it means that the external world is really out there. In addition to Nature, what's going on is the sum total of everyone's will and decision-making, including your own. You should try to have your influence, so you can make some of it go your way. But this is challenging, life (reality) is very challenging and it's HARD to swim against the flow.

Yeah It makes sense--its to obvious, i think. No matter what kind of situation your in, you may think your in a fairytale world. But you always have to come back down to reality.

I like that saying. It does sound obvious, but the sheer number of people who are willing to go up against reality is simply astounding.
