Go to the pet store, they have turtle food you can buy for them or try some vegetables like cucumber to hold them over till you can get to a store. Give them a nice (but shallow) dish of water as well :)

red eared sliders are very common pets. Go to the pet store or look them up on line. Boy's have longer nails then the girls. But you won't be able to tell them apart till they are a bit older. We have 2 we got them 3 years ago when they were the size of a quarter now they are about 3 inches across. Our male is also more aggressive. we can pick him up and hold him no problem but if you put your finger in front of his head he will try to bite. The girl does not. I don't know if this is the same with all males. As for feeding them most stores carry turtle food in the pet department. And if you put fish in with the turtles they may try to eat the fish. we have big goldfish in with our turtles and the turtles are forever biting their tails. When my daughter put a guppy in there from our other tank so they could all play the turtles did eat it because the fish was small. They are great pets. we love ours and have lots of fun watching them. Oh and ours are still pretty fast I don't know if they will slow down with age and size. I hope this helps some. good luck!

i have 2 baby turtles too! they like having enough water to dive under and swim and all but they need a place where they can climb out. Pet stores have these really cool things that suction to the side of a fish tank so the turtles can get in and out of the water but it won't take up a lot of room. You can have fish swimming with them too. Mine are really fast but i dont know if they will be when they grow up. i would name them names that work for both guys and girls cause as far as i know theyre is no way to tell gender. i buy any turtle food that doesn't cost too much for them. i also have some turtle treats that are little shrimp and they absolutely love them. hope this helps!

Yes, they will be good pets for you when they grow up. They are very slow when they grow up, but that way they won't get away from you!
Now for you're next question. The shells of the females are brighter, and the males are darker colored.
They eat crickets and bugs. They like to swim in water, so a pond is best during summer.
In the winter a little bowl they can soak in which is not too deep, about medium size is nice. A rock for resting is Kool Too!

You really should not have gotten turtles without researching them first. RESs get very large and will end up costing you alot of money. It is so common nowadays for people to get these and not care for them or not know anything about them, and for this reason, I made a web page to show people the basic things they need to survive. www.geocities.com/radiofemme/turtles
Please be more responsible next time you decide to purchase another animal.

Mooo- you've been asking turtle questions for a month now- about the same thing over and over.
I am getting very worried about you and your pets, and I wonder what I can do to help. We've offered good websites, etc. but you keep asking things.
I'd like to suggest that you try the site http://www.austinsturtlepage.com
They have care sheets, great articles, and a wonderful forum you can post at as well.
If you are having troubles understanding the sites or the help. please e-mail me and I will do what I can to help.

Did you catch them from outside? If so you need to release them. If you bought them, you really should have gotten information on them before you bought them. Please go to http://www.repticzone.com and ask ALL about them in the Aquatic Turtle section. They can reall help you. I know a couple people that have had RES for over 10 years. I hope you decide to go there to get help. Good luck! Feel free to email me with particular questions, I have kept them.

I don't know where you got babies, but if they were pruchased and are under 4" they are illegal to sell (federal law since the 1970s). Ones this size rarely survive in captive conditions, so I'd take them back.

you can search on the internet to find a site and get more information on them, like google. or you could ask people in a local pet store, they might know something.
