There's only little spurts of action. The rest is just downtime and worthless passes. Soccer has got to rank right up there with watching paint dry.

hmmm how much soccer have you watched? If it was MLS in the U.S. yes you are sooo right.
Ever watched a foreign game? World Cup? They rarely stop the clock...unlike American Football...No pads...more pain...have to be in EXCELLENT shape! Try running a soccer field you'll see what I mean :)
I guess its all in who are you...it gives me a rush, but again, NOT American soccer...what a waste.

The build up in soccer is as important as what you call the "action". It is like chess, not checkers. Besides, soccer is a constant game. Even when the ball is out of play, the clock continues to run, there are no "commercial time outs". Football stops EVERY play, baseball stops in between EVERY inning, and all other sports are broken up into periods or quarters. There are no time outs, only three subs (including if there are injuries) and one half for 90 minutes of play. There isn't as much scoring, but the game is about getting the opportunity to score. It is truly "the beautiful game". Hopefully the rest of the United States will start to catch on. And as someone said earlier, the different levels of competition between the MLS and European clubs in England or Spain for instance is astronomical.

I can tell you can't see the thrill footy has in all of us!!! Like I said before, it's not just cuz I love to watch it and play it, but I also love to feel it!!! And you are sooo wrong if you think "soccer" is like watching paint dry! Cuz dude, believe me---watching paint dry is alot more fun than watching some American football, basketball, baseball, hockey, tennis---all of those!!! The only sport that is a infinite times better is footy!!! I'm an American, but i'm sooo totally footy inclined!!! It just rocks my socks off!!!

You need to play it!!! I have heard others say it isn't fun to watch, but I think if you've played it you would have a different perspective and understanding of why it is such a great sport.
Specifically why I like it is because, played well, soccer is such an intellegent sport. There are no time outs so players have to learn to coach and make most of the important decisions themselves.

You have obviously never palyed soccer because if you did, you would realize how complicated it really is. I'm only 13 and would beat you easily. You just don't realize how complex it is. You have to be in great shape, you have to have a strong leg, and you definitly need to know the game, which you probably don't!

Well I live in the US and I like soccer, even MLS previous answerer. It is cool because how the ball moves. I like how it can curve around people and how some people can do some really cool acrobatic moves. But, Hey everyone has there own tastes...

Soccer blows its less interesting than golf. It truley is a dull game and most soccer games are fixed. Soccer has as much credibility as WWE wrestling. Although i love wrestling i think they need to improve it much more.

You just described AMERICAN FOOTBALL and not football (soccer). There is a reason why the ENTIRE world loves soccer, and NOT American Football. Most of the world finds the NFL exceedingly BORING!!
