It's not Fish and Chips. It hasn't been for over a decade.

It was beaten a decade ago by an Indian takeaway - but then about three years ago the favourite takeawy became a chinese takeaway.

these are what are reported in the press.... but if you ask me, macdonalds (and therefore the common burger) are still way ahead of any of the others.

I used to have fish and chips for lunch every Friday - went to pick it up for all the folks at work that wanted it. Around here, its served with tartar sauce, but malt vinegar is really good too I think.

I don't know if its my favorite though, because here, pizza is delivery, Chinese is takeout - just the general pattern. That said, I'd have to say my favorite takeout is Chinese.

Guess it depends on what's available and fish and chips isn't as readily available for takeout as Chinese where I'm from.

Thankfully, its so diverse around here I can walk down one street in particular and get any of the following I want:

Chinese
Egyptian
Tibetan
Mexican
Spanish
French
German
Russian
Pakistani
Japanese
Greek
Italian
Thai
Vietnamese
Others I haven't tried yet

So much to choose from - I love it.

No, it's not, unfortunately. Because of Indian and Chinese foods taking over English foods, the most popular takeaway is now the Tikka Masala I believe.
