On TV it appears that Randy, Simon, and Paula actually sit for each and every audition. However, I do not believe that it is possible for the 3 to actually sit and watch 75,000 people in each city that they visit. How are the auditions actually run? Are there other judges that sort through all the average and then they turn over the best and worst to Paula and the gang?

saw on a previous idol show once that they divide the huge stadiums of people in sections and they audition right there on the field under tents before a panel of judges (not the famous judges) so some it is luck of the draw on what judges you get and if they pick you or not. Since you only get a minute or so to sing, some good singers get missed I'm sure if they have a bad start or get a judge who doesn't like them for some reasons (maybe they look like an ex they hated or something).

They seem to pick only the best of the best and the worst of the worse with some getting through on personality or aa weird hook like a costume or look like someone like Clay or Taylor.

If you are not a good singer and tried out on a dare or you are not good and also know this, you are now tipped off that if you are selected to be on the show for the purpose of making fun of you to gain ratings. Unfortunately, some of these people are not aware that they are not good singers and psche themselves up acting confident to increase their chances and think they have a shot and are thus upset when not only are they not accepted, they are also demeaned or laughed at.

You apparently sign a contract, not only given up large amounts of money in an AI discovery cut if you do CDs for so many years, but also that you give them the right to film you and show whatever they want such as the person shown vomiting over and over in ads for So you think you cn dance (their dance show) or an embarrassing fight or something. They seek to show you at your worst and the more emotional the better.

After that you do at least one and maybe more prescreening auditions and maybe they tell you what scriptyou will do or how you will react as one of the partiicpants, who his mom said was mildly mentally retarded, said he was told Simon would be very hard on him and to defend himself strongly so it seems some of this is scripted or loosely scripted or encouraged. Perhaps they even get promises to be on tv or money if they go along and overreact or something -- I am not sure.

They do prescreen looking for people to fill the spots of possible good singers and the bad singers or people who for whatever reason will be used to fill the role of loser (according to idol standards)..

They dont, people actually have to adution like 5-6 times in front of producers before they can see the 3 judges. But the ones that really suck usually go in to see simon, paula, and randy right away for good TV.

The newspaper says that there are at least 3 auditions before the 3 judges get to see the contestants. They send the very worst and the best to be seen on TV.

ok. this is how it goes down. first, they audition in front of the producers, and of coarse if you are good, they put you through, but they also put some of the really bad people through because that makes good t.v. Then, the people the select go to audition in front of the judges. I know I thought the same thing at first, but then my friends said that her voice teacher auditioned and she didnt even make to the "1st"/second round. :(
