However, in the past year I have developed a very low tolerance for the sight of them. I mean, I've NEVER ever been in close proximity to one other than on the other side of a glass cage looking in. Before I could look at them on TV with no problem but now when I see one I scream very loudly as if I have been hurt. I've scared my husband a couple of times if he's in another room and hears my deathly scream. My heart rate increases and I get very nervous. Like I said before, this just started happening. I've never been harmed by one or even came in contact with one but I've always thought they were creepy. Is this just an developing phobia?

Sounds like an OVERDEVELOPED phobia. This is not normal behavior, especially for an adult. Maybe you should try some sort of therapy. Snakes are usually harmless anyway when handled correctly. Maybe you just need to get to know one. They aren't creepy--they are very interesting and beautiful.

apperently so. visit a phsychiatrist if it gets to bad.
