Geocaching is a game that typically incorporates the use of a GPS, the website geocaching.com, and the co-ordinates that users have placed upon the website. You then enter the co-ords into your GPS and go hunt for the "treasure". The treasure usually consists of trinkets and junk but sometimes the hider keeps it up REALLY nice and its a TREASURE CHEST!
Its also a great way to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors. This is why I started to do it, I needed some exercise and to enjoy the great outdoors.
There are also other sites that are geocaching related. Two of the big ones are navicaching.com and terracaching.com. The user base is quite small compared to geocaching.com but everything starts out small in the beginning!
Here's also an explanation from geocaching.com -
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

On August 24th, 2014 a fellow coworker introduced me to Geocaching.
What is it you ask? Well, sit back, relax, and let me tell you about the ever so exciting sport that is geocaching.
Basically, someone hides a plastic container somewhere, logging the coordinates and then I go find it using the GPS on my phone.
Now before you get overly excited and become unable to control yourself about finding Tupperware in the woods, let me tell you some more.
Yes, I have had those conversations like, "Wait...let me get this straight...you take a drive to some unknown location, find some trash someone has left there, open up the Tupperware, take out the log sheet, sign your name and then put the trash back where you found it? And the point of this is. . .?"
And yes, I have gotten responses like, "Geocaching is stupid! I don't see the point!"
And sometimes I'm lucky enough to get those looks like "Should I admit you to the mental institute?"
But geocaching has become a favorite pastime of mine.
It has allowed me to visit so many new and exciting places--even those that were a stone's throw from where I live but never knew existed.
It has been my virtual tour guide when I traveled to Jinmen, Chiayi, Tainan, Yilan and Taoyuan (cities in Taiwan).
It has given a familiar road new meaning, excitement, and adventure.
It has gotten me out of bed hours before the sun came up to see the most beautiful of sunrises and to see the most breathtaking of sceneries.
It has helped me make friends who love exploring new places together.
It has taught me to enjoy the outdoors even more and appreciate nature to the fullest.
It has taught me to balance my time better between work and recreation.
Above all, Geocaching has given new meaning to adventure.
Geocaching isn't about finding a plastic container hidden in the woods.
It's about getting out and exploring the unknown that you never knew existed so close.

Its a game in which nerdy people creep around privately owned commercial parking lots and look for worthless containers while pretending to hide their activity from others. They call non geocachers "muggles" a word from the Harry Potter series. Most budding geocachers drop out of the game, leaving thousands of items of abandoned property behind as litter. Most of these are archived as soon as 2 or 3 people cannot find it and whine to the site that it should be unlisted.
