Goldfish are cold water fish, which is why you see them in ponds. They should only be kept with Goldfish/Koi. My experiance with goldfish has been in outdoor ponds.
Contrary to most of your answers, betta fish are not aggressive to other "community fish". They should never be in a tank with another male betta or even in a tank with a female betta except for controlled breeding circumstances where the female can be removed after the eggs are layed. The little bowls at the pet store give people the wrong idea that bettas are fine in cold cramped environments. Surviving isn't being fine. I've bred and raised bettas....a warm slow water tank is where they are best.
The corydoras is tropical and would work with a betta.
Random fish - have had guppies, platys, various tetras, and small zebras in tank with a betta and the only fish the bettas have bothered have been babies. Most larger fish eat babies.

It is not always true that Betas kill other fish. Male Bettas will always kill each other. However I know of no way to tell which ones will behave themselves and which ones won't until after they are already in with other fish. Cory Cats are very mellow and won't bother anyone else. Most Bettas would leave Corys alone because Corys live on the bottom and hide a lot. However I have found that most kinds of tetras are totally compatible with Corys. Raphaels and upside down cats also live fine with corys. I do not agree with the person that told you to put cichlids in there. I had one kind of cichlid that was fine with other fish but most varieties are fairly mean and might kill other fish. Also be careful about overpopulating your tank. If you want that many fish you might want to look at some smaller varieties like neons and white clouds.

Goldfish have different water quality and temperature requirements, so first off, you can't mix goldfish and community fish, which is what all other freshwater fish are called. Goldfish need a minimum of 10 gallons of water PER fish up to 3 inches and it increases after that. Thus, in a 10 gallon tank, you could only put one goldfish, and no other fish, not even another goldfish, and you would have to get a larger tank once the fish started reaching about 4 inches in length. Next, you can't really put bettas in with any other fish at all because of their feisty nature. With community fish, the rule is 1 inch of length of fish per gallon of water. So, if you want more than one fish, you could have, and only need, 1 of the cory cats and, depending on the sizes of the community fish you chose to get, as well as allowing for future growth, you can have maybe 5 various community fish, such as tetras, barbs, platys, swordtails, guppies, etc.

okay, for the 5 gallon, i'd propose a male betta. Petco actual has alot of distinct forms of them, and that i have in my opinion got here across an pastime interior the KING betta, even though it particularly is as a results of the undeniable fact that is so massive. in case you hit upon the right colour and beautify the tank appropriate, you may have a superb setup! Ahh the ten gallon. those are continually interesting to inventory. i will allow you to recognize my setup that looked as if it would artwork exceedingly properly. I placed 5 dwarf loaches in. that would look like plenty, even though it type of has a opposite effect. they have little barbels which will bypass throught the gravel and %. out lost nutrients, so in a way, they do more suitable good on your tank than undesirable. Too upload to this, you should upload a male betta. they're usually now to not propose to the little loaches, so aggression doesn't be a difficulty. And he would probably swim from section to section on your tank, thankfully patroling it. even though it particularly is purely my opinion. yet please, no goldfish. i wager you should attempt a kind of little "feeder fish" you spot, and attempt to keep it alive. opportunities are severe it is going to die very quickly. yet when it does proceed to exist, it would likely get massive, so i doesn't recomend it. yet when you're prepared to get a more suitable tank IN CASE, then bypass for it :)

This reminds me of my first tank, I started out with the same size too but have since moved onto a bigger tank :D
Goldfish have a need for different water parameters, they are called cold water fish, and should not be mixed with with the tropical fish that you have listed. But some fish do continue to live happily out of their requirements and can adapt. Just monitor the fish for any signs of distress, thats a sure fire warning that the fish isnt comfortable in its environment.
Bettas are known to be aggressive, dont mix them with slow moving fish, not too sure what ur 3 random fish are but make sure they dont have long fins either cos they will get ripped to shreds by the betta. For example, guppies with fancy tails are bad to mix with bettas.
Bettas are also tropical fish and need to have warm water! about 26+ degrees celcius otherwise it will become really lethargic... quite boring and most likely bad for its health too.
imo, if you want a tank which keeps changing its inhabitants without you having to purchase newe tank mates (provided you keep them well), i suggest you keep livebearers. Gives you immense satisfaction when they breed. Platies, mollies, guppies for example, breed like rabbits. They are also samll enough to look nice in a 10gallon.
Goodluck with the tank!

Ok, news on the betta: only females get along w/other fish, NEVER PUT A MALE IN WITH ANY OTHER FISH. Second: Sm. goldfish would do good. Third: You might want to get a few neon tetras or maybe even ONE koi.
