to me, music is the most beautiful creation on earth. Its just the way a tune is put together, when a certain note follows another it can just sound amazing, and it pulls on your heart strings. If its not the lyrics that makes you feel sad or happy, it might be whatever the tune is making you think of, whatever state of mind you are in at the time.
I love music and when im drunk, it seems to get right inside of me and i think every song is the most amazing in the world. Thats why when i wake up with a hangover i oftern find my ipod in my bed as ive fallen asleep listening to it!

Well tempo is simply beats per minute. Usually a higher BPM means more of an energetic song, but thats not always true. There is a lot more going on in music than just the BPM.
To understand what makes a song sad you would probably have to take a theory class, or just be into music on your own and learn for yourself what seperates a sad song from a happy song. For an example usually a song in a Minor key will sound sad, but a song in a Major key will sound more happy. However this is not always true, there's a lot at work when it comes to writing a song. Melody is also very important and harmonizing.
There is simply no easy way to answer the question. Its a long and difficult process to write a good song.

Maybe it has something to do with whether it's in a major key or minor key. Major is apparently more cheerful (stuff like Oasis, U2) whereas minor key stuff (Coldplay, Smiths) sounds more mournful.
That said, the reverse works for me and i don't like much jolly, major key stuff, but that isn't the way it's meant to work.

because the lyrics talk about something sad,or make you think of something sad, or the song could be in minor(sad)or major(happy)

i think perhaps different types of music draw up different emotions because they might have memories associated with them or even possibly just what is eg. sterotypically 'happy' music could remind you of happy things.
