If you want to get better at basketball here are a few things you can do to become a better player:

Make free throws

It sounds simple but even pros struggle with it. Just take an hour every day of one week and shoot free throws over and over on a hoop. I guarentee that you will be a much better free throw shooter. If you aren't skilled enough yet to score on your own find different ways to get to the line. Free throws are an easy way to score points without having to do a whole lot.

Play defense.

90% of playing good defense is simply wanting to. When you are out on the floor focus on shutting you man down. Make sure you always give maximum effort each time you are on defense. Playing good defense is the easiest way to get more playing time.

Don't turn the ball over.

A key to being a good basketball player is not turning the ball over when you do get it. By your assist total you sound like you know what you doing with the ball. A key to remember is that your assists are much more valuable to the team if they don't come with turnovers. Making smart, easy passes that you know won't get intercepted and not trying for fancy, risky passes is the best way to reduce turnovers.

I played basketball for my school through high school and was the team captain for the team during that stint. I am not fast, I don't shoot well, and I was undersized everytime I guarded someone. But I got a ton of PT mostly because I played good defense, didn't turn the ball over, and made my free throws. Offense will come with opportunities and is a little more flashy, but being a complete basketball player is the quickest way to the floor.

i'll assume your playing guard?

focus on your strengths.

don't make turnovers. pass off the ball before you get in trouble.

focus on getting open inside 3 point range. set picks and
use those to get open.

crash the offensive boards to get a put back or a bounce
pass to an open forward.

What do you suffer from on offense? Practice getting
off shots quickly by yourself. Play a game by yourself
of shooting from the top of the key, getting rebound, shooting
from the point of rebound...and so on until you make the shot...all as quickly as you can. Practice lay ups running at full
speed.

Study the strenghts of your fellow players so you'll know where they are going to be and how to help them.

I would work harder during practice show that you want to win(but don't be cocky) get aggressive, you should have at least one foul in a game if you played good D-fence. What ever you do don't ask for more playing time coaches hate that!

Put more effort in at practice. That's what coaches look at.

Seriously if you are in middle school complain to the principal. Or get your mom or dad to do it. Worked for me. Except mine was a racial complaint.
