So I have been having pregnancy symptoms for the past two weeks. I took a home prego test about 2 weeks ago and it came back neg. I went to the doctor on the 15th and got a blood test, it came back neg. My period isn't due until thursday or friday. I ALWAYS get my period on a thursday or friday. I got my period today but its very light and very dischargy. I have been on the pill for about a year. Could I be prego? Could I be havin a miscarrige? Or what? I am really scared...

The blood test is a lot more accurate at detecting pregnancy hormone hCG in your bloodstream than the urine home pregnany tests!

Since you don't specify exact dates of LMP and the date your next period is due -- I can only guess:

Typically, you will ovulate at days 11-14 in your monthly cycle. You count Day1 as your first day of bleeding (period). 11 - 14 days later, you will ovulate (unless you're on the Pill, but then again... it can still happen).

Anyway... it takes about 5-7 days for a fertilized egg to drop into your uterus and implant. Some women may experience *implantation spotting* at this time (others will not).

So... implantation takes place approx Day 17 - 21 after your LMP. It is at THIS point that the pregnancy hormone hCG starts to build in your bloodstream and urine. It will usually double every other day.

So, by the DAY of your missed period - most home tests are accurate; but a blood test would be even MORE accurate.

If it is still NEGATIVE 1 week after your missed period. Test again. You may have had what is called a "chemical pregnancy". It will not last, and there is no right/wrong reason why these things happen.

I have had 5 kids, and 2 miscarriages.

hope this is helpful!!

I would have your gyn check you out but I would say that you are not pregnant. Some times the pill can interfere with the way you get your period and if you have had any stress lately it can also set your cycle off. If you are not having any pain other than usual cramps then its not a miscarrige, and if your showing not signs of the pregnacy hormores (what shows up in tests) then chances are good that your not pregnant.

I had a scare similar to this. I was NOT pregnant. I've never missed my period and when it "showed up" this particular month it was very transparent. Not even enough to call it spotting. AND it lasted for one day. It was STRESS!!! Every thing was back to norm the next month and every day since!!! You're not pregnant!!!

From what you are describing, I do not think so. Blood test is as accurate as you can get.
