I love Styx! There's no other voice like Dennis DeYoung. So disttinct and so powerful. I can't help but crank their CD when I play it.

Panic! at the disco?? Metallica?? Green Day?? Backstreet Boys?? You people aren't impressing me. I do; however, like the Billy Joel and The Beatles answers...now those are some musical legends!

No doubt about it--The Beatles.

1. The first musical group to really concentrate on song WRITING as opposed to simply recording the songs others had written.
2. Inventive and groundbreaking
3. Catchy tunes and memorable lyrics
4. Trend setting techniques used in the studio and copied for forty years by other bands afterwards.
5. Smart, quick witted, and entertaining on stage

There is not one moment of the day or night when there isn't a Beatle song playing on some radio station somewhere in the United States--and it has been that way since 1964. Unbelievable talent.

Crowded House. If there was ever a band that was more a band, i'd love to find them. These guys lived for music and it genuinely looked like they were enjoying themselves. Add Neil Finn's genious as a songwriter and you had a brilliant band.

Or, perhaps The Traveling Wilburys, but we just didn't get long wnough to enjoy them.

My ultimate favourite artist is Kirsty MacColl. I think she was a very versatile artist, with a unique voice and a brilliant song writer. When it comes to a band it must be Rammstein, brilliant live band, great music!

Tool... no one has been able to sound like Maynard, they're excellent musicians and they are one of the few bands who isn't interested in going mainstream. They play what they know their fans love and it doesn't matter if it doesn't get played to death on the radio because their concerts still sell out in a matter of minutes. I've seen them 5 times and can't wait until they come back to the states for their tour. Their live shows are phenomenal and I recommend you take a listen.
