Someone just emailed me to tell me about several different procedures they know of that will raise a child's iq. They are concerned about my "retarded" baby. They were very nice (for an ignorant person) and informed me that they had actually taken the time to seek out someone to ask questions to that could help me.

They took an awful lot of time and trouble trying to help me without finding out first if my kid really was mentally disabled or not..

I appreciate their help, but I'm sorry they wasted the time.

By ignorant I mean Ignorant to the situation, not genuinely ignorant.

Let's clear that up... I just re-read and realized how that sounded.

I would tell them to mind their own business. No one has the right to do that. Makes me mad just thinking about it. I would, well, I don't know what I'd do, but I would definitely be upset.

I usually just thank them and nod my head so they think they have helped--it is polite yet if they understand sarcasm they might not do it again

Yes I have. People often offer their informatin where it's not asked and you don't want to be rude but then again it's like, "Who asked you?"

Well, I've wondered that before but in the end, I never say thanks. And about your situation, even though they were ignorant they were trying to be nice, I think. But I wouldn't have said thanks.
