I'm also gay and live in Texas. Here is some background you may want to consider. The constitutional amendment that wrote discrimination into the Texas Constitution pass with like a 60% margin on a state wide vote 2 years ago. You may want to consider getting involve with Equality Texas. They are a state wide lobbying group for GLBT issues.

I dont know about the laws in Texas as I live in the UK. But there is absolutley nothing wrong in being gay. Im straight, but there is too much negative comments and attitudes towards gay people. It doesnt make a difference to me what sexuality a person is.

Hi, I too live in Texas; I'm straight and I have several gay friends and I don't see one thing wrong with it as (this is for all of the bible thumpers out there!) GOD made them and science has recently proven that gay people can't help it because it is genetic that they're gay. All of my gay friends (as I'm sure that you are too) are some of the sweetest people that I have ever had the good furtune to meet and I am blessed to have them in my life. I know that you would like to change the laws and all I can say is vote for people that are pro same sex marriage and start writing to you legislators telling them how you feel. Good luck

1) I"m sorry you live in Texas in case your hometown isn't Austin or Houston.

2) There is no such thing as a gay or straight person, only sexually active or inactive people.

3) Marriage is the problem, not who can or can't get married.

4) To change the law, you'll have to be extremely patient, find every appropriate organization in at least the state you live in that can help you with your cause, and get to work. It's difficult stuff, organizing and vying for some positive change, but it's always good news when you hear that somebody's up to the challenge.

5) I'm sorry in case you're still in Texas.

6) Have I mentioned my dislike of Texas?

I recommend you get involved with a couple gay rights organizations, a local one and a national one.

As for a local organization, I am sure there is at least one in your area, just do a little looking online.

Nationally, I recommend the Human Rights Campaign, America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. I have been a supporter of theirs for years. Their website is a great source of information on the subject.

I wish you luck there in Texas. I know you have a tougher fight there than we have here in Illinois. But if it's any consolation, I know that there is a HUGE LGBT presence there, in D/FW and in Houston. You will DEFINITELY not be alone in your struggle.

Good luck to you!

Good luck having it changed in Texas anytime soon. Or anytime in this millennium actually. You see the kinds of attitudes your up against already.

But first things first, "DOMA" (Defense of Marriage Act) would have to be repealed and any state same-sex marriages would need to be federally recognized.
This way no matter in which state a same-sex couple is married that couple would be allowed to freely move about the country and their marriage would still be recognized.

I totally support and defend the fundamental ideal of individual states being allowed to make their own laws regarding marriage, but if federally recognized a couple who moves from one state to another would not loose their marriage rights. Sure, that state could make same-sex marriages illegal to be PREFORMED, but could not make any law not recognizing said marriages preformed outside the state.

Good luck. You've got your work cut out for you since you're in the Bible Belt.

I'm from L.A., so being gay for me is normal. I admire your wanting to change people's minds, but if I were gay, I'd just move to a big city on the East or West Coast.

I really don't care what any one does in THEIR own lives. If something makes them happy and it hurts NO ONE else then they should persue it to no end.

Just because it is not for me doesn't mean others can't do it. I am all for minding my own business and expect the same respect.

I do question why homosexuals feel the need to tell everyone. I guess I couldn't care less what anyone does in their bedroom, on the table or on the roof, why they want to share the fact that they are gay, bewilders me. But to each their own.

The marriage thing, I have no opinion.

: ) Happy Monday !

Gay, straight, bi, we are all people, some good some bad. I like people who are genuine and kind hearted regardless of sexual orientation.

Lobby for gay marriage and get involved in gay rights groups.

I live in Oklahomo so I know what you are talking about. I think you would have to try it. Get denied and sue. It would be costly as hell. I hate that we have a president who is so ******* stupid. He has truely set us back 20 years on everything!
