Why is it that alot of adults think that lil kids cant be depressed?
I see parents who spank there kids or punish them if they cry. Thinking that they are only wanting something or being whiney... and not one thought of them being depressed or sad goes through there mind! When I was a young child I expierenced alot of anxiety ( im bipolar my mom didnt know at the time) and when I felt that I didnt know what to do and it was scary! But instead of trying to find out whats wrong with me, my mom would spank me and tell me, " If u dont stop right now I will give u something to cry about!" Little kids are humans too! What gives "adults" the right to be the only ones who could possibly become depressed!?! I remember my mom and others telling me that teen suicide is becuz the teen didnt get what they wanted! Thats true to some sense but u know it really ticks me off how arragont adults can be when it comes to how younger ppl emotions act! lil kids DO have more then 2 emotions ( happyness and whineyness). Im just curious WHY adults think that a child only crys

I agree with you, children can suffer from depression just as adults do, but it can be much harder on the child as they do not have the resources or even the vocabulary to define it.
Yes, little children are human, too. They are also very fragile emotionally.
I do not believe hitting a child is an appropriate form of discipline. If a child cries, they need to let that emotion out. Crying is as natural as sucking. They also need to have a loving, supportive, caring adult to talk with afterwards, so they can work through their feelings and maybe understand themselves and what they're going through a little better.
Children feel all of the emotions that and adult can feel. Children don't always know how to express or deal with their feelings and sometimes adults don't either. No one is perfect. Adults make mistakes, too.

know! Like a few years ago...
My nieces and their mom lived with me at my house. My oldest niece NaDeara were in my mom's office. Oh, and I was about 9 or 10 and she was 3 or 4. So anyway, We were in my mom's office and she accidentally knocked down some buisness cards. So we started to clean it up. But then, my mom came in. I told her what happened and she said to carry on. Then, HER mom came in. She told her to clean it up herself! A few minutes later, she started crying. So her mom told her, STOP CRYING! But she was only 3 or 4 years old so she couldn't control her crying yet. So her mom told me"Move over Imani. I don't want you to get caught up in the fire!" I tried to move over a little bit but I caught a little of some of the"fire". She spanked her HARDER THAN I'VE EVER SEEN! And remember, I felt a little bit too. I don't know why she did that! As if that would make her stop crying! But of course, she cried more, got yelled at a little more. Then, her mom finally left. But I still helped her clean it up. After wards, I asked her why she was crying in the first place. She said"I was to overwhelmed today. All day, I was at the point of crying. And when mom told me I had to clean this ALL up by myself, I started crying" Of course she didn't say it in those excact words! I mean, she was only 3 or 4! But anyway, that just prooves it. And you are SO right!

Hun, you really need a better title.
And this isn't a place to rant -- it's a place to come to get your questions answered, most often by highly unqualified or misinformed people.
I suggest if it bothers you that much that you go to talk to a therapist about it?
