I'm in my 30s and I realized today that I no longer 'take the time' for myself that I used to. I work from home so I rarely leave the house so I seldom wear make up or do much with my hair. I'm wondering how many other women actually take the time to 'get ready' when they're staying home all day?

If you felt the need to attack my question, chances are you're putting your own feelings of self worth into the mix because I never said that. :) I'm not saying I don't feel good about myself, I'm very proud of who I am and I don't need to put my make up on to feel self worth...

lol, for crying out loud I'm not saying I'm a slob - I take showers and shave.. I just don't get dressed up or put my make up on. Amazing how quickly people can judge ;)

Well, I don't. I have 3 kids and if I do then my husband thinks I'm trying to lure him back to the bedroom. LOL
I just don't have the time. My day starts at 5 am if I want any time for myself and then whatever responsibilities for the day.
My motherNlaw and my sisterNlaw both dress to the 9's just to check the mail. It's a waste of time if you ask me. However, it is an individual choice.

I'm with you. I only wear some eye make-up when I know I need to run to the store or make other errands. I actually do work as a secretary at a driving school but I hardly have walk-in's. I know my husband must be bummed because I went from always dressing nice, wearing make-up and styling my hair to jeans, sweatshirt, pony tail and mascara. That's about it!!!!
Usually once I finally get my daughter ready to go to work with me I don't have much time for myself so I'm in a rush to get ready. Not to mention that since I put on extra weight while I was pregnant it hasn't really came off like I hoped it would. Thus making me not want to dress up but instead hide my body.
I'm not sure if I answered your question the way you wanted but I thought I would let you know you're not alone!!!
I also wanted to agree with you on the fact that those who are attacking your question and putting you down for not wanting to cake make--up on your face every day. There is such a thing as natural beauty!

I am a stay at home mom (26 yrs old) I have only been at home for 6 months with our new son. My husband actually makes fun of me because I put conceler and mascara to go to the store but if I'm at home I don't bother. My son certainly doesn't care. But you have to make time for yourself. If nothing else when your child is sleeping take a nice relaxing bath and give your hair a deep massage while washing it. I try and make time for myself now that my son is on a more regular schedule. But I do think that if you aren't leaving the house why put make up on. Also just like the others I was curious as to what work you do at home. Thanks...and hope I answered your question.

I know what you are talking about. I am a stay at home mom of three. I rarely put make-up on when I know I am just going to be taking care of things at home all day. I usually put on the "basics" (powder, mascara, lipstick) if I am picking the kids up from school or something but that is about it.

Depends on how ur working from home. Are you spending the whole day working? Assign a few hours each day just for work, then have the rest of the day for yourself. Even if you dont go out, do something you enjoy. A break is nice every once in a while.

Its easy to get in the slump of not taking care of your appearance when you're not leaving home. I use to work from home and what started out as a joke "pajama's & fussy slippers" turned out to be the case. So, it's up to you to turn that around for your self esteem and looks. By the way, what type of work are you doing from home, been looking for something that really works for my benefit instead of someone else's company if you don't mind my asking.

I don't wear makeup at all, period, so that didn't matter even when I was a stay-at-home mom. what do you need make up for, anyway? it's fake.
anyhow, I wasn't able to really take time for myself until my kids were in school and I finally divorced their father!!
I work full time now, and I still don't wear make up. And I'm engaged to marry a man who fell in love with me WITHOUT make up!!

it is very difficult to get ready for the day when you are not going out, but i would get up take a shower, do your hair every day. it always made me feel better about myself and seemed to make my day go smooth. i even did all this every day i was pregnant. Helped me not feel so bad.

I stay at home most everyday but I make myself get up and dressed makeup on and everything. It makes me feel better about myself and if anyone happens to drop by...I'm ready for them.

I'm with you, and I totally get you............I'd love to do my hair and make up every day, to feel and look pretty, but I just don't have the time or energy...it's a little depressing....I force myself to go to the salon and have my nails, eyebrows and feet done at least every two weeks. It motivates me to keep on top of the rest of the "personal" grooming. Can't have great nails, feet and eyebrows with ugly hair, now can we?
