This is something that I would ask your OB about. I have yet to hear of one who will let a pregnant woman take it under their care.

If you took it before you found out you were pregnant, don't worry. I did, too, and my kids are fine. My doctor put me on Zoloft for anxiety, though, throughout the pregnancy.

Talk to your doctor. If you're having a panic attack, talk to your doctor, nurse, or midwife NOW, before you take anything that you shouldn't.

Well, it's certainly not good to take any drugs while pregnant. Whether or not it caused damage to the baby most likely has to do with how far along you were when you took it. If it was before the embreyo implanted in the lining of your uterus, it might not have hurt the baby.... but that is very early on (week 1 or 2). You should call your doctor ASAP. You should never ever take drugs without your doctor's approval while pregnant.

Stop fear-mongering.

This is a decision that has to be made between a pregnant woman and her doctor.

Yes, there is evidence that anti-depressants can be harmful to a developing fetus. And there are no good controlled studies, because there is no ethical way to do them.

But there are risks to NOT taking anti-depressants, too. If being off the meds leads a mom-to-be to actually harm herself (which could hurt the baby, too), that's a much greater risk than a theoretical risk to the baby from the drug.

If you're in the situation, you have to consider it from all angles and make the decision you're most comfortable with.

Go take a look at www.safefetus.org I agree with everyone else though stating it is really something for your doctor and you to talk about and decide if the risks outweigh the benefits or vice versa...good luck

You are not supposed to, They (OB) will switch you out to something else. I do believe however that you need to be weaned off of them because it will cause the baby to go through withdrawals (I may be wrong but I belive thats the way it went with a friend of mine) DO NOT STOP TAKING THEM UNTIL TALKING WITH OB!
