I just found out I was pregnant, and called my OB/GYN to mkae my first appointment. The office said the doctor won't even see the patient until the are 8 weeks pregnant, because you can't really tell anything before that...is this normal?

It's not too unusual. In fact, many women don't realize they are pregnant until after their 6th week.

Yes - unfortunately! I just experienced the same thing. I'm 12 weeks pregnant now and didn't go in for my first until 10 weeks! Apparently, they can't hear the baby's heartbeat until 8-10 weeks. The time goes by quickly. As long as you are having the normal pregnancy signs... nausea, digestive issues, swollen breasts, frequent urination - the baby should be fine. Don't worry. Good luck!

Commpletly normal, I knew at 3 and a half weeks & didnt see my OB until 10 weeks as they are supewr backed up. No biggie, you will see them so much in the next 9 months you will like this break in the long run, if you bleed cramp get a yeast infection etc call them ASAP & they will surley see you, Good Luck & Congrats

My OB/GYN was willing to see me right away. He felt that the blood tests were a good thing to get out of the way that early, as if there was a problem, there was just that much more time to take care of it.

I've heard of this before, though. I don't think that *I* would stay with a doctor who refused to see me until then, though.

Yes, my OB wouldn't see me until i was 8 weeks, and at that appointment, they just repeated the urine pregnancy test and did a pap smear. She then went over the dietary restrictions, and general information about pregnancy.

it usually normal but if it worries you. then you can ask to an hcg blood test. it is a test to see your hormone level.
depending on the level it can tell you pregnant not pregnant even if it is one or more babies. even if it is tubual pregnancy or not.

that test was how i found i had a tubual pregnancy.

or call around to ob's and ask the soonest they have available.
good luck to you and dont stress..its easier on the unborn baby.
