ford would be better for pulling things, they have a crapload of torque etc.

hondas are faster, and last really long. also hondas are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper to repair.

I think Honda is better than Ford but agree with what others have written regarding the needs of the driver. Though I like the Ridgeline, I think Ford has more powerful trucks. The truck segment is still relatively new for Honda. Overall, Honda cars scored better than Ford in terms of number of repairs after 5 years (Consumer Reports). Hondas also don't depreciate as quickly as Fords.

From a brand standpoint, yes. Honda produces vehicles that are more reliable, depreciate more slowly, and on the whole, last longer. Ford is a good brand and their trucks are known for their durability, but in the passenger car market Honda is a dominate force over Ford and the rest of the domestics.

Hondas are NOT cheaper to repair than Fords (most imports cost more to repair from a parts standpoint alone.) Although the parts cost more in most cases they need to be replaced less frequently.

You should never compare whole brands to whole brands because no one would ever buy and drive every car that one brand makes. You should compare model to model instead based on what type of car you need for the price etc. That being said for example Honda does not make any sort of medium or heavy duty trucks while the Ford F-series trucks are the best selling line of trucks in the USA for decades. Honda has no model (not even the half truck Ridgeline) that will compete with the Ford f-series trucks. Also, I have known as many peolpe who had piece of $hit hondas as those hwo had piece of $hit fords.

I would pick Honda, I have owned and driven several makes and models of ford and honda. I was always having to fix the fords with less than 80,000 miles on them. The hondas I've owned all have run well with very little cost My current Honda has 257,000 miles on it and runs great. I had a taurus with about 70,000 miles and I had to replace the trans ,head gaskets, heater core, and several other items and it died shortly after each repair with another problem.

So I (from personal experience of ownership and being a mechanic) would choose Honda.

This question is clearly in the eyes of the beholder. I drive a 95 Honda civic with 160,000 miles on it. It has never had a problem. I have a friend that has a ford mustang and f-150 and they have over 120,000 miles on them and run normally. Personally i believe that the Japanese know how to build cars, especially since they know that American manufacturers are still making SUVs that get 12 miles highway that no one is buying except for people that dont care. Any car will last long as long as you properly take care of it.

Well, it all depends on what kind of vehicle you are looking for. Honda makes an excellant car, whereas ford does'nt. But Ford makes an excellant truck. Honda makes good truck too, but if you are lokking for a heavy duty truck go with the Ford. But if you are looking for a car I whould buy a honda.
