Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
The wearing of white after Labor Day... I don't think that is true anymore. Maybe just a rumor to keep ugly white shoes off the streets!

Well Labor Day (It is spelt Labor in the US) is simply celebrated as a day off for the working people. Some teens and young adults figure it as the last real party night of the summer before school starts. Usually for kids, school starts the day after this holiday (although my school likes to start a week before). The point of not wearing white after it is just a fashion thing. It's kinda stupid, and no one follows it. Its now pratically ignored.

It's a fall holiday rightr before winter, a three-day weekend to give workers a day off. It signifies the transition into the school year starting, etc. And as a rule of thumb, white is not good to wear inthe winter because of the snow, so we discontinue white after labor day. But nobody pays much attention to that anymore except for old ladies.

Honestly, when are we going to stop old societal ways from affecting us? Back when women wore long dresses it would get muddy outside and they would get them dirty. That is the only reason why! The policy is that you do not wear white after Labor day and do not wear white until Spring. Remember, that English Society also use to see Fall and Winter as dying months. What color do we wear at Funerals? Black. Most deaths took place in the fall and winter in Medieval times. Study dress in History. One great resourch is "Pride and Prejudice" message board out of England. They go into breaking down the book and why different things were said.

Labor Day is a yearly holiday that, I suppose, is to honor the laborers among us. (I'm sorry - I don't really know exactly WHY we have Labor Day - I'm just glad it is another paid holiday. It is not that you CAN'T wear white after Labor Day. It is just that wearing the color white suggests that it is still summer time - warm weather, etc. And by the time Labor Day rolls around, the season of summer has "officially" ended - and it is time (theoretically) to begin dressing for the Fall season. Summer is now over and Fall is here - so you are not "supposed" to wear white.

Labor day is where we celebrate the working masses. Here in the South, the tradition of not wearing white after Labor day has always been a given...sort of like a benchmark where every good Southern lady knows that from that day forward, only winter white is allowed until Easter.

Labor day is a celebration of the hard work of our labor force. Not wearing white after labor day is simply a standard for the fashion world to not wear white in the autumn and winter months.

Labor Day is in September, holiday to honor the working people. They say you can't wear white as Labor Day signifies the end of summer and summer is the white season.
It's an old fashioned rule and not followed anymore.
Not that you asked, but Memorial Day is in May and that signifies the start of summer.

It's a silly fashion rule Americans use - no white before Easter or after Labor Day. I'd venture to guess that it has something to do with warm weather coming and going!
God Bless!

It's a holiday at the end of the summer. Basically a day off to recognize people's work.
The fashon of not wearing white after it is because it's held that white is a summer colour, and it's not fashonable to wear it in the autumn.
