Journalism, Politics, Pre-Law: Before you finish college contact some public relation firms and do some summer inter-work with them.
Upon graduation Get a job with a public relations company (it will take 2 years at the job before you will be able to take a vacation). Then you are ready to start at the ground level.

Communications and Speech classes. Your college/uni should have a syllabus with the exact classes you need to take for that major. Contact a counselor there and they can give you specifics.
