I guess if I thought that person was the best person for the job and they didn't try to prevent others from religious freedoms.

Separation of church and state does not mean that religious people are unsuited for high public office, as some answerers have stated.
I think the candidate you support should hold your values and ideals. For me that means that religous candidates are more likely to match my values and priorities.
Also, I feel that religious candidates are less likely to compromise their stands for political expediency, so I would trust their policy statements more because they are grounded by an underlying value system.

Probably not. Religiosity does not guarantee intelligence and morals but a candidate with no religion guarantees a better chance of lack of morals. The odds are in favor of a God fearing leader making more appropriate decisions but nothing is a perfect guarantee. We must always be vigilant for wolves in sheeps clothing!

Honestly, no. I feel that conforming to a religion says something about a person's character and integrity. And those are important, though not the only qulitites I look for in a leader.

That's the only candidate I'd vote for. Even Jesus said there's no place in politics for religion.

Honestly, it might be hard for me to vote for a president who was an avowed atheist.
Remember, the last two Democratic presidents (Carter and Clinton) were self-professed born-again Christians.
I believe Bush 43 is too.

probably not...because at least christian candidates have morals about them...or at least most of them do...not all, but most and would probably run this country with a better hand...for instance they probably would not allow all this bull crap about God and Jesus being taken out of school and everything. It's ridiculous and ppl should take a stand! If they did not all of this would happen so much!
