Not in its former form. Personally, I think not because we're on the cusp of biblical prophecy being fulfilled and that prophecy has Russian and Persia (Iran) entering along with a few others, none of which are former members of the U.S.S.R. The weight of the judgment, however, falls on Russia; I'm inclined to think that God will let them take that themselves with no one else to blunt or absorb it.

are you kidding?
The USSR was specifically the 'communist' government set up in Russia after the revolution during wwi. It was specific to the temperament of the time people, and the people involed. While it isn't impossible for Russia to rise again as huge political influence, it would be in a compleatly different sort of way then the USSR was.
Also, Russia and the other former Soviet states are still recovering socially and economically from their time spent under Soviet control, so there is a lot of rebuilding to do before the new government can compare to the power that the USSR held.

None whatsoever - communism is pretty well dead. But a Russian revival that recreates and empires similar to that of the Tzars (but without a hereditary monarch) is certainly possible. Such an entity - and that seems to be the core of the ambition of Vladimir Putin - would doubtless follow similar strategic and geo-political objectives as the Romanov Empire that is a function of Russia's geographical location. What could derail that development is the emergence of a strong united China capable of maintaining a political and strategic struggle with Russia over a serious period of time. That has never happened in history but there is nothing to say that it cannot.

History repeats! But, u never know when!
Many centuries ago, India was rich in wealth and culture! It has started eroding gradually by the occupation of the foreign invaders. Now, it appears, India is gallopping towards super power.
Similarly, there is a possibility of USSR to rise again, but they have to completely dismantle the political set up and inject democracy into their electoral system and governance!

Posibillity is always there but it depends on the fact that really required when whole of word is become a united republic. I say it is possible but not needed immediately, but there should be a well communication among those all nations to collectively go ahead for the development of their nation.

I have listened to an idea from someone who thinks that peristroika was a ruse to make the U.S. believe that it had won the cold war and that the KGB is still well-organized in dedication to deceiving the U.S. into complacency ... that the KGB is using smokey-room deals to lure the America into thinning its military capability in order to help them win the "real" cold war.
I think that that is crazy.
