without seeing a photo it's hard to say.
This could be keloid sacrring (especially if you are of black or mixed origin) or it could be a build up of fluid which might indicate infection. best to get it checked out asap! especially if it is weepy, swollen or smells odd.

If the piercing is still in, it is probably a keloid. If it is out and has been out, it may just be scar tissue buildup. While your piercing is in, you should be doing sea salt soaks about twice a week. This will keep it clean and help the keloid go down. Just make sure you're consistent and don't touch your piercing with dirty hands.

its probably is a keloid. when my friends and i got our upper ears pierced (in the carteledge (sp?)) they got them on the back of their ears. i have never had a problem with them so all i know is what they have told me. they used the ear cleaning stuff from claires (you can buy bottles for cheap from the store even if you dont get your ears pierced, and it will work for whatever any piercing you need to clean) that you get when you get your ears pierced and that seemed to work well. it took a couple of weeks but it was gone and hasn't come back.
