I had the Mirena thing put in in July. My last period was December 2nd. I have spotted through the month of January so far. Has this happened to anyone else? I have been pretty sick lately in all fairness. I had my appendix taken out at the end of December, and then I had a the stomach flu, now currently dealing with a cough. I have had sex since my last period and I know that there is always a possiblity. I have been under lots of stress with bills and such being sick. I can still feel the strings, and have been nausous and been drooling in my sleep, like I did with both my sons. Any advice is welcome, Thanks!

The Mirena IUD is supposed to be pretty good. I have a 5 year, and I am going on my 2nd year with no pregnancies that have snuck in. However my mentrual cycle is very irregular, and usually just amounts to spotting and no real period.

the drooling is probably just because your nose is so stuffed up you have to sleep with your mouth open to breath, I wouldn't really tie that in with pregnancy, just kind of a coincidence.

I used to get worried when I first got Mirena, however the proof is that 2 years later I'm still not pregnant. So I don't worry anymore.

I can't say for sure if you're pregnant or not, but I got pregnant using the Mirena IUD (I was able to feel the strings too). I was due to get a new one at my yearly check up in January, but found out I was pregnant in December. It's definatley possible, and needs to come out if you are. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but good luck.

I currently have the mirena i.ud. and this is the second time I have it. I have NEVER had a problem with it. I love it. I have problems with other types of birth control. I've never gotten pregnant on it.. It's rare. I think it's your other sicknesses that might have you this way. With the mirena sometimes you skip periods. Or you just won't have one. The doctor explained everything to me. I will never use anything else. Good Luck.

My sister in law has only had a few periods since she had her IUD back in 2003. I got mine in 2005 after having my son, and my periods were like clock work, just like before I ever got pregnant. So it just depends on the woman. If you think somethings up, try a pregnancy test or see your doctor.
