From good sources Very Very reliable , that Bill Cowher
wanted to be the highest paid coach in the NFL,in his contract negotiations with the Steelers prior to this year for a contract
extension for 2008 he wanted more than Holgren at 8 mil
The Steelers would only go 6 million so he broke it off.
He will be back in two years to the highest bidder he has
1 year remaining at 4 1/2 million in 2007. for a team to sign
him for 2007 the Steelers would have to be compensated
draft picks and money. He is free 2008.

As a former coach, I know that once you leave it, you miss it terribly.
So, Cowher will get real tired of retirement and be back coaching next year.
Dolphins would be the best fit for him. He moved his family to Florida.

yep it's quite possible for bill cowher to coach next year or in two years from now as he didn't say that he's done with coaching altogether he just wanted time off to spend time with his family

I think Bill Cowher will come back in his own due time & he'll coach again. Where will he coach, is still uncertain.

I think he'll pull a Parcells and sit out for a year, maybe come back as a consultant for the next year, and be head coaching again 3 years from now.

He absolutely wasn't forced out, and even though he wanted some time off, PFT and other sites indicated that money was a big factor in the negotiations. He'll probably take a year off and go look for Holmgren money. The Steelers still retain his rights this year and can block his movement.

Yes ! He had a burn out in Pittsburgh, and needs time to find the fire again. Look for him next year, maybe with Dallas. Then look out T.O. he might tell you where to shove it.
