He is a very exciting player, definately a top notch one day player but his test career is still not too hot. Having Afridi, Pietersen and Flintoff at 5, 6 and 7 in one-dayers would be quite something to behold.

Hitting sixes is not the onlyt thing.Hitting sixes and having control is the essential thing.England requires a batsman who is a big hitter and also should be able to bat all 5o overs.Afridi is really unpredictable so inclusion of a player like afridi to the english team will make england more pathetic

England already has players that can do what Afridi does - they are Flintoff and Pietersen, especially Pietersen. Any Aussie only has to think of his 91 not otu against us at Bristol in 2005 to see that.
What England needs is to sort out their top order and their keeper. Mal Loye is good as there is finally a player that shows some agressive intent at the top of the order. And I think Chris Read should be in the one day side - Paul Nixon has not done much to prove he is more worthy of a spot.

why when you have pietersen would you want a very temperamental player as shahid afridi is and nowhere near as talented. His record in both forms is not great he performs every so often rather than pietersens every other game

It's worth pointing out that talented as Afridi is his average is pitiful - I think it's less than Michael Vaughan's! If he comes off he can win a game on his own, but he's very unreliable. And it's worth pointing out he's retired recently and unretired two weeks later!

Sixes are all overrated. I enjoy watching singles. Afridi and Dhoni need to learn the art of bating.

No! He's that cheat, who stamped all over the wicket and dug his studs into the ground. Remember, he did it when nobody was looking, so that his team's spin bowlers had more chance of bowling England out and winning the game.

Yes, we'd lovemore players like him to add to the English team, but unfortunately for us he is Pakistani and therefore plays for Pakistan.
