Your english seems to be improving. What I would do, when you apply for college, go to the counselor or some one in charge of admissions, and ask them if they have any language courses in english. There is a program that can help foreign students learn english. It's called ESL. English as a Second Language. But in the mean time, keep getting books and tapes that will help you learn english. You also might want to try some websites. Here's one you can try. http://www.1-language.com/ Good luck!

I am an English/Spanish teacher, and for only a year 1/2 you are doing very well... English is one of the harder languages because of all of the exceptions to the rules, pronunciation etc... and there are students who have been learning it for 10+ years and still do not get it right! I don't know how dependent your country is on the English language, but if it doesn't affect your salary ( in some countries jobs pay a lot more in a job if you speak certain languages like English) then I would say you could go ahead and go to college there without any more high school here. If you want to know what you HAVE to know before college, I'd say you are fine. If the English language interests you, I'd take some advanced ESL classes here (many times they are free also) rather than get back into high school again

English is one of the hardest languages to learn. Alot of people born and raised here never fully understand it. There are so many words that sound the same, but are spelled differently. There are so many words that have different meanings. English is hard to understand. I can't imagine coming here from a different country and trying to learn the language. I commend you for trying!! If you are wanting to stay here and go to college, then you may be able to take English courses or maybe get a tutor to help you learn. Don't give up. And as far as listening to songs...sometimes the language is not always the best, so be careful. Some music is good to try and listen to and help with your english. Just keep trying and don't give up. If you want to stay here in the US, then you can find away. Good luck!!!

Since you are already here in the States, I would suggest continuing you education here. First, try and find a tutor (someone who is willing to help you with your english). You can check at the local college campus (whether it is a Junior College (2 year) or a 4 year institution). After working with a tutor for a while, then I would find a Junior College and start with the most basic English course and go from there. After you have taken the course or courses, and you still don't think your English is good enough, then, you might consider going back to the Philipines to continue studying. But, if you are planning on making your home here in the States, and you are planning to work here, you will need to graduate from College here in the states.

No...you're certainly NOT ready to attend college here. Your grammar and spelling needs a lot of work and is not at a college or university level. You need to work hard, with a tutor and learn English, grammar and spelling better before you even consider college. I'm honestly not sure how you graduated from high school. If you're planning to go back to the Phillippines and are accepted at a college there, where you can take non-English spoken classes, you may have a better chance. (I still think you need a lot more education before you're ready for ANY college. )

I am not an English teacher I am a Science teacher. Whilst I would say your english shows signs of intellect it lacks some refinement.
For example "I already graduate in high school there" needs to be consistently in the past tense e.g.
"I HAVE already graduateD high school in the (US or Philippines)." Learning the correct verb endings and how to write sentences in a consistent tesnse should be your next step. Ending the sentence with there is not acceptable as it is ambiguous and does not define the subject: the location.
You should always aim to challenge yourself and stretch youreslf if your aim is to learn with a degree of urgency. I do not think your english is bad but you have formed a habit in settling for your english to be comprehensible, rather than pushing to advance it to the next stage.
Read read read your work and try and improve it each time until you only need to proof read it once to get it right.

I would suggest looking up a local Community College in your area, calling and asking if they have an English as a Second Language class and signing up for it. It might not cost you anything. Or find a friend over here that can help you learn how to speak English correctly. And another thing, PLEASE stop using PLZ and thnx. Thats just lazy. Listening to songs can help you learn words, but not the proper way to use them. You really should sign up for English classes and learn the correct way to use words and grammer. Have a good day.

My wife teaches ESL at the local community college. They have classes for all levels and studends from many countries. The classes sound like a lot of fun. They are fairly relaxed and you learn about customs as well. The classes go all the way up to preparing you to take the TOEFL if you want. That's the English test for American colleges. But you can take things at your own pace.

First thing you need to do is relax. Don't be so hard on yourself. Find an ESL class that will help you. Look it up in the phone book. There are a ton of them all over the place. Most are free. Try Catholic Social Services for starters. You just need a patient teacher.

don't worry hun, you'll learn English in no time. just be patient. trust me, i know how it is, i was not born in Canada, and i'm not Canadian, so it was tough for me to learn English to, but I did it really fast. Just relax, and you'll be fine. :)
And, if I were you, since you already graduated high school, go to college. You will never be able to find a decent paying job without a college diploma. College is your best thing for your future. If I were you, I would go on to college.
Good Luck!!!
