My husband gave 2 weeks notice to his employer. They wouldn't accept it saying that's not their policy. If he turned it in, that is his last day and he will not be paid for the 2 weeks. Women who have worked there have given 2 weeks notice and been allowed to work it (2 before my husband gave his, 1 after) so it is not policy.
A friend of mine said in the state of Texas, an employer must either accept the 2 weeks notice or pay the employee the wages for those 2 weeks. Can anyone show me where this is written?

I don't know for sure but I have never heard of any state having a law dealing with 2-weeks notice. It is essentially a courtesy given by someone leaving a company, the company doesn't have to accept it. Now, there may be a law about a company giving a notice about closing.

I gave a 1 week notice to my boss telling them i am leaving because the job i really wanted finally called me and hired me. Me: I have only worked there for a month, I am not anywhere near my 90 probationary period, im a really good employee.
1) He blew up at me demanding a two weeks notice and if i didnt give it to him he was gonna call the new place and tell them that there will be bad blood between them and a bad business relationship between them. 2) I owe it to him and the other employees for training me to this point. 3) I dont want to burn a bridge with him or the other place.
I was floored with this reponse. I feel I was threatened and made me feel like I didnt have a choice where I worked or stayed. WTF!!!! what are my rights in Texas
