I hope its not where I think it is...under the throttle body and blocked by a heat shield

Unfortunately you are right. The easiest way to change it is to unbolt the throttle body. There is just enough room to get the thermostat housing out. The repair manual will say to remove the heat shield and the cross over pipe, but it has been my experience that the bolt on the manifold will break. Also it is an act of God to get the pipe out.

follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine....it connects to a small dome with a couple bolts holding it on......this dome is your thermostat housing.

its under the crossover pipe for the exhaust a real pain in the butt to change thermostat.

where your radiator hose is clamped on top, it should be under that metal elbow.
