What is the name of this 80s animated film? It has a 'magic vs. logic' theme and features dragons etc.

This is really bugging me...I remember the main character in the final battle with an evil wizard warded off his magic by spitting out equations and stuff like that. He also figured out how dragons in their world flew and breathed fire. Can anyone help??

It's called Flight of Dragons. It;s a great cartoon. John Ritter did the voice for the main character.
