I have tried to do this twice and was just wondering if there is any special tactic I should use in order to learn the song or is the game supposed to prompt me to learn it. I got the power braclets and can move the huge rocks but when I enter nothing happens. I have tried playing the tune with my windwaker and nothing happens I have tried using my deku leaf to put out the fires on the torches, bombs, ice arrows, etc. I have also gone to dragon roost island to find medli and she isn't there on the cliff. I can go no further without learing the last two songs. Nothing I can think of so far is working. Please help with this....

I asked the people of dragon roost and they all said she is at the top of the cliff, but when I went there she wasn't and I didn't hear her playing music either.

Remember what the sages told you?
You need to find the reincarnation of the Wind Sage (I believe this is Medli... ).
If she's not on the cliff, ask people around Dragon Roost Island if they've seen her. You are bound to get the information you need.
You need her with you when you go to Gale Island.

I can only think of three things that may be causing you trouble.
One:
You haven't gone in far enough. Normally, if you pull out the wind waker, there will be a bit of music that it tells you to play.
Two:
Are you conducting in 6/4 time? Hold the analog stick to the right.
Three:
You may have Makar or the Wind Sage's song already, and that may not let you learn the song, I'm not sure.

you have to learn the song first in the cavern before she shows up on the cliff top. Then play it.
