It depends.
St. Augustine, FL is the oldest city in the US mainland.
But if you are talking about the oldest city in the US as a whole (including Alaska, Hawaii and US territories),
than San Juan in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico is the oldest US city because the Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon, in search of the legendary Fountain of Youth, landed there in 1508. de Leon founded a settlement there five years before he reached St. Augustine.
But, while Puerto Rico is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction, most people consider St. Augustine the country's oldest city.

I live now in Mayport. Florida and I think it is the oldest.I heard that last year from someone and from other people since then. Its near St Augustine by 40 miles. Most say its St Augustiine, but even if this place is small it really is the first place they landed and so its the oldist.I am pretty sure of this, as I have heard it from a number of folks,You come down to see us now you hear?
