I JUST FOUND OUT MY BEST FRIEND ON LINE DIED THIS MORNING. SHE WAS ONLY 42 YRS OLD AND SUFFERED WITH FIBROMYALGIA. NO ONE WOULD EVER LISTEN TO HER. SHE THREW A BLOOD CLOT AND DIED ON THE COUCH.

WHY DON'T DOCTORS BELIEVE PATIENTS WHO SUFFER WITH FIBROMYALGIA? WHY DO THEY ACT LIKE IT IS ALL IN OUR HEADS? WHY WHY WHY?

I KNOW WHAT FIBROMYALGIA IS. I HAVE SUFFERED WITH IT MOST OF MY LIFE. THE THING IS THAT IF SOMETHING NEW HAPPENS THE DOCTORS ARE MOST LIKELY TO WRITE YOU OFF THAN TAKE THE COMPLAINTS SERIOUSLY. HER LEG WAS SWOLLEN AND HOT TO THE TOUCH AND THEY HAD LEFT HER LAYING ON A GURNEY FOR HOURS AND DID NOT RESPOND TO HER PLEAS FOR HELP AND TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PAIN. THEY NEARLY LOST HER FOR BLEEDING OUT AS HER LEGS BEGAN TO WEEP BLOOD AND THEY HAD HER ON BLOOD THINNERS.

NO SHE DID NOT DIE FROM FIBRO, BUT THE DOCTORS WOULD NOT LISTEN ABOUT WHEN SHE HAD CHEST PAINS. THEY WOULD NOT LISTEN WHEN SHE HAD ALLERGIC REACTIONS TO MEDS. AND FOR ALL OF THIS, THIS IS WHY SHE LAID ON THE COUCH AND DIED. BECAUSE NO ONE WOULD LISTEN TO HER.

I am so sorry for your loss. You will need to grieve for as long as it is appropriate for you, and in your own way.

I have had a lot (actually) MOST doctors treat me like an "hysterical female" when they could not figure out was wrong with me. Both male and female doctors have behaved in the same manner. (I have had some very strange symptoms and ailments - real, but strange.) I think that the doctors' egos are threatened when they cannot give a definitive answer and diagnosis. They just don't like it if they don't know. Their realm of knowledge is limited (even though they have had a great deal of schooling - their schooling is not all-inclusive.) And western modern medicine is really not that all that old when you compare it to Chinese medicine, for example. Its only a couple of hundred years old. And I think that medicine is still governed by males - and a very narrow view of the world. A "scientific" view - if you cannot see it or measure it - then, by God, it does not exist! (in their way of thinking.)

Again, I am sorry for your loss. Good luck and take care.

Fibromyalgia is a long-term problem that causes pain in the muscles and soft tissues of your body. You may lack energy or have trouble sleeping. These and other symptoms can be severe enough to affect your work and home life. But fibromyalgia does no permanent damage to your muscles, joints, or organs.

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome—a set of symptoms that occur together but do not have a known cause.

i dont think she died from fibromyalgia and doesn't seem to have any relation with blood clots..so i dont know what u are talking about docotrs don't believe patients??

well Im very sorry for your loss. Im a nurse and when my patients tell me their doctors dont listen then I tell them to find one that will. Doctors are not gods and the first thing in health care is to take care of yourself first and dont worry about affending your doctor by seeing another doctor. Nobody knows your body better than you do so If you feel bad find a doctor who will listen. Remember its your responsiblity to take care of yourself and not to put it in the hands of the doctor, ask questions and get answers and if you dont then find another doctor.

I'm so sorry... that's terrible. I wish doctors would listen more. We know our bodies very well after all. I had a friend that died from this.. she was in her 30's. : (
