My girlfriend and I are going to dallas and staying downtown. Where is a trendy, hip area for a good hotel and that is also walking or a short cab ride from a swanky, 20 ish professional lounge/club??? Should we stay on greenville or right downtown at the hyatt? Help!!!

The Magnolia and the Adolphus are both extremely nice hotels and within a short walk or cab drive to Deep Ellum (lots of lounges & bars with many genres of music) or Gilleys.

Personally, downtown Dallas is horribly over-rated. Head over to the Uptown area for an upscale scene. Try staying at the Hotel ZaZa if you can afford it. Very nice and not part of a chain ( I think) like the big new W hotel. I would NOT go to any clubs that are actually downtown. The area is too dark and intimidating at night. As for lower Greenville, great place to bar hop and have a preparty drinking. Try Tiger Room or Whiskey Bar in lowest Greenville. There is also a Ramada on Mockingbird and 75 that is close to everything. I always recommended friends and clients to stay there if they were coming to Dallas.

You can stay at the new W hotel in uptown, and the ghost bar in the hotel is pretty "swanky" if that is what you are looking for. the Hyatt is ok, Dont stay ON greenville, but I suggest bar hopping on greenville ave, its always fun.

Stay downtown and go to Uptown to party. Greenville is also very cool, but not near as classy. Look on Guidelive.com for good bars in uptown, there are plenty and all of them are pretty classy. When are you coming? I might have to bring a friend and meet you down there. I love Uptown.

If you have the dollars, either the Crescent, the W, ZaZa. I also recommend Bailey's Uptown Inn, which is a neat Bed and Breakfast in the revival State Thomas area. All of these are near Uptown which has lots of great restaurants and bars.
