If a man and a woman get the woman pregnate (either didn't use protection or the protection failed) and the woman does not want to be a parent, she can get an abortion and walk away.
If a man doesn't want to be a parent after conception, he is forced to pay child support for 18 years without an option to give up his child for adoption.
Explain to me how there is any equality whatsoever in this? (Note: this is a post-conception question)

For Jamie R
A man cannot sign away his rights by his own choice. There has to be another parent to adopt him. If the ex got remarried and they wanted her husband to adopt him, the original father could then sign away his rights. I never met a woman that did this, because then they don't get the child support on top of the new husband's income.

it does not seem fair, you are right--- we should just take the part out where the woman can have an abortion if she wants. That would make it fair--- I mean, since it is both of your mistakes is it not?
but hey, if we had 47,000,000 million more people in the United States instead of killing them through abortions... then hey, who knows if one of them was going to be the next Leonardo Da Vinci. If we didnt have abortions, we could have a 16% increase in population in the united states... but hey, 1 out of 7 people isnt a lof of people.

It's not right. It's no more right then a woman being the one to have to carry the child nine month. No more right then the woman to have to push the baby out of her. It's no more right then the hours of agony of labor. No more right then the millions of things that can go wrong during pregnancy. No more right the all the changes which happens to the woman's body not the man's. How is any of that right. Both the man and the woman enjoyed the act?
Bottomline it's her body going through the changes not the man's.
Therefore it's her body her choice. There is no group that is pro abortion meaning nobody would every force a person to have an abortion. For somepeople that's a morally wrong choice. No body should ever go against what they believe is morally wrong because another individual want to tell them what to do with there body. Remember it's separation of church and state..
The state can not make the individual to have an abortion.

It doesn't seem equal at all the way you put it and I think the man should have the right to refuse paying child support IF he used protection and it failed or was tampered with. But IF both parties declined protection at the time of intercourse that is in fact making the decision to have a child if you conceive. Both parties must stand by a decision they made to do nothing.

You need a lesson in fairness. If you were one of my 3 children you would never have even asked this question. There is no fairness in the world, and the rules are made by people bigger than you and cannot be changed. That's just the way it is.... look at it this way... when you are discussing sperm, it doesn't matter who had it first, only who has it last.

They do have rights. If they don't want to be a parent they can sign over their rights giving up all visitation and financial obligation for the child.

For the same reason that a woman cannot be compelled to get a nose job or bigger boobs because her husband says so - it's her body and she's not his personal baby machine.

Ask the Republicans or the religious nuts. They have all the answers, remember? They know how to solve all the problems and they know what is right and wrong. They can tell us what we can and can't do with our bodies. Hurl, Rowlph, hurl rowlph.
