That’s a tough one. But here’s a couple of points relating to it.

The crisis proved the critical importance of aerial reconnaissance which (1) provided verifiable proof and (2) put the Russians on the spot.

Even caught red handed (sorry), Russia still played the diplomacy game for all it was worth. Yes the USSR pulled it missiles out of Cuba, but only after we agreed to pull our missiles out of Turkey.

Air superiority and control of the seas were once again confirmed as being crucial to defense.

Russia continued to support the Castro regime at considerable cost to their economy which couldn’t afford it (although what good it did for them I’m not sure).

We had to practice air raid drills (in grade skool) by ducking under our desks and covering our heads. It was pracice for a nuclear attack by the commies. I lived it.
School misspelled on purpose. lol

Strategically, it lead to our involvement in Viet Nam.
