I been with my boy for over a year, but we are not BFs, we are friends with benefits. We lost our virginity to each other. We call each other to work at least 3 times per day. We spend all afternoon together. I go home, and I call him on the way over to my house, then we chat until we sleep. Fridays and Saturdays, we always find different things to do together. Sundays we wake up, and lay in bed together until noon, then we go out somewhere. We decided to be friends with benefits because BFs eventually break up and end up not talking to each other, and we want to always be friends. I haven’t dated anyone because I know he feels jealous, and he hasn’t dated anyone because I would not feel good about it. Today, he asks me if we could both get tested for everything, so we don’t use condoms anymore. I’m 0K with that because I totally trust him, but that means that neither of us will have the option of having sex with someone else. So can we still call each other just friends with benefits?

This is a question for him not us. He is obviously thinking about something long term so bring it up to him. The best relationships start out as friendships.

My heartfelt congratulations to you both!

There is no such thing as "friends with benefits." You are sex partners, plain and simple. There's another term used for it which I will not list here - FBs.

It sounds like you are building some sort of relationship, especially since you are having sex only with each other. This must be true due to the "no condoms" statement - otherwise you are playing Russian Roulette with your health in today's HIV environment.

Why get hung up on imaginary labels? You are obviously dating. Please discuss more with each other what your expectations are. Good luck!

no you friends with benefits are allowed to see other people I would call you close boyfriend and girlfriend that can't leave each others side and then if you ever broke up then you can fall under the category of friends with benefits

that whole friends with benefits thang does not work. its like a pre-relationship with all the emotion. everything in this life has a life span, your fooling yourself becasuse you think with no title it should be easier but no relationship is easy. you spend way to much time together and having sex make it complicated

it all depends upon the level of trust. personally, you guys are acting like a couple and should consider making a commitment to one another. the fact that you are talking about becoming monogamous further shows the fact that you ARE a couple.

don't be afraid, take a chance and actually commit to one another.

You can call yourselves anything you want. You do not have to justify your relationship to anyone.

Best wishes to both of you.
