Sephiroth is a character in an Installment in he Final Fantasy Series. Kingdom hearts is supposed to be a new story that just has these characters, the game isn't related to that game. If you noticed aeris/aerith is still alive in this game too and she was killed by Sephiroth.

Actually, he's not really half devil/ half angel. It Kingdom Hearts, they named him his popular name from the music that plays in the background and his from as a final boss in Final Fantasy VII.

He's human like everyone else but he was tested as an experiment thus causing him to be that way (one wing angel) but he remains to be appear mortal until he reveals his true form in the latter events in the FFVII game.

I don't want to say too much because it'll spoiler Final Fantasy VII for you but play it because it's one the best and most compelling games in the history of Playstation and all game consoles.

If you really want to know more info, check wikipedia link on sources.

If you look at the story of kingdome hearts, it's torn apart both the Final Fantasy, and disney worls and timelines, so anyone can still be alive or dead, it just works that way.
