Not too much really. The larger memory size is going to better if you have enough songs you really listen to. You could also put other things on there. Since they are the same price i would go for the regular sized one. The only good thing about the nano is that it is small.

The nano is smaller and more convenient (fits nicely into the tiny pocket of my girl jeans). It also has a flash memory drive whereas the regular Ipod has a harddrive. The flash drive will last longer if you use it in situations with lots of moving, like working out. The regular Ipod can play video and downloadable games, the nano can't. The nano has a 24 hour battery life which lasts me about a week and a half without charging, but that depends on the person. I don't know how long the battery on the regular iPod lasts. The regular on also has a bigger screen. The Nano comes in pretty colours and the case is more durable (i've dropped mine many times).
Personally, I find the size a big advantage but it depends on how many songs you plan to put on it. (also if your like me and just shuffle all the songs, having less songs but all of them good can mean less skipping things that you only have on there because you can.)

If you are a person who works out alot, runs/jogs, and does other activities with the Ipod then the Nano makes a big difference, because it is lighter, smaller, and doesn't get in the way as much as the bigger sized Ipods. Even though it may seem like a small difference, the smaller the better when it comes to this situation. And even the Nano's have plenty of memory for very long work-outs.
In the end, it really depends one where/when you are going to use it most.

I've owned both.
If you are going to be watching videos, go with the regular iPod. I thought i would be watching videos all the time... but I didnt.
I recently bought a nano to replace my 30gb ipod. It is much smaller and less of a pain to carry around everywhere. Plus, the new nanos are made of aluminum, which means they wont scratch as easily [like the current full size ipods do].
So if you are only in it for the music, and you don't like scratches [often as a result of simply putting the ipod in your pocket], and you're a fan of portability, go with the nano, especially if you have 2,000 songs or less. If you have more than 2,000 songs, you might want to consider getting the full size so you can fit more, or you might consider excluding a portion of your songs from your ipod nano.
My vote: the nano.

the 250$ nano is an 8 gig which holds roughly 2000 songs the other ones quite a bit bigger in size (as in demensions) and alot bigger in holding capicty at 30gigs your looking at 8500 songs or so it really depends on what you want it for if you just want it for in the car and at the office go with the 30 gig reg model if you like biking jogging or working out with it i'd go with the nano it may not hold as much but 2000 songs is more than enough for a week or so at least thats what i do i update my ipod once a week and if you not in to the upkeep get the big on download everything on to it and just go jogging with the go ol' walkman

There arent really many differences besides how many songs you can hold ipod nano is about $100 cheaper and comes in cool colors but, the ipod holds 20,000 songs while the nano only hold 2,000 songs.

the amount of GB inside is key. Nano is cool and small- convienant, but whats wrong with the regular? In my opinon (espicially if ur a music lover) get the most storage possible. I don't belive there is any difference besides size of storage and size of unit

I think its just b/c the nano has been out for a while & they have fixed the problems w/ it... the 30, 60, & 80gb are alot newer. also they hold videos & some people just want a nano for songs.

I would definately go for the larger IPod. It costs almost as much money and you get a ton of memory on the larger one.
I have an older 20GB IPod and have 2500 songs on it.
Tip: go to your local library and check out their CD's. They have alot and they circulate between the other libraries so they have fresh stock. No charge with a library card.
